The Ogre History and Art Museum was founded in 1981. The museum collection comprises almost 37 thousand objects reflecting the history of Ogre and the Ogre district. The building housing the museum is an architectural monument of local significance and was built in 1927 as a summer cottage.

The Ogre History and Art Museum was founded in 1981. The building housing the museum is an architectural monument of local significance and was built in 1927 as a summer cottage. It was designed by a civil engineer and master of functionalism Teodors Hermanovskis.

The museum collection comprises almost 37 thousand objects reflecting the history of Ogre and the Ogre district. The museum repositories are kept in a separate building at 3 Kranciema street. Exhibits are displayed in two exhibition halls, which are also used for book presentations and meetings with prominent people. The park around the building is a venue for different activities that vary with the seasons, such as concerts, drama performances, annual festivities and festivals of snow figures and autumn leaves’ sculptures.

  • The monuments of architecture, history and nature in Ogre
  • The Ogre Kangari Hills, Zilais (Blue) hill – castle mound
  • The Daugava castle mounds and burial places
